I didn't know if I'd make it through last week. Everything seemed to be piling up...eval due dates, meetings, students needing testing, SOFTBALL! I felt like I was at my breaking point. I was in the middle of burnout. 😫😫 It's nothing new in education. And April seems to be particularly....TOUGH. I didn’t set out to become a business owner in education, but now I can’t imagine not being one. Last Friday at the NOVA Annual Member Retreat, I had the chance to pause and actually celebrate that reality. What started as something I never thought was “in the cards” has become one of the most transformative decisions of my life. That leap didn’t happen in isolation. It was built on mentorship from someone who believed in me before I fully believed in myself, support from other business owners navigating similar paths, and constant encouragement from my family. Business ownership in education is a paradox. It’s hard and deeply rewarding. Complex and freeing. Grounding and at the same time, expansive in ways I’m still discovering. It’s changed how I think, how I lead, and how I show up for schools, for educators, and for myself. I’m incredibly grateful to NOVA for creating space to reflect, celebrate, and continue growing alongside others in this work.
